Hi I have been travelling around the world for the last five years ( apart from 10 weeks when I flew back to England to see my mother two years ago).I left England in 2013 from Morcambe to the Isle of Man then to Belfast ,then Rosslare to France ,Spain,back to France ,Germany,Italy,Greece now in Crete.After over a year in Crete I think its time to move on.The next leg is Crete to Cyprus.I am not that keen on flying and also my passport got mangled in a bank scanning machine then went through a washing machine and is not looking to good now.So I might be refused air travel.I have looked up non air travel and it says I have to go Rhodes( where I might linger for a time ) then a ferry to Turkey , overland then a ferry to North Cyprus .Any advice? is it better just to renew my passport and fly Crete to Cyprus.Not to keen on travelling through Turkey.

So you want to travel the world without a passport...making scenarios of crossing from Greece into turkey into an illegal state to come into Cyprus.

Go get your passport renewed ffs and take a plane into Larnaca!

How are you planning to enter Turkey without a passport? From Greece to Cyprus you can travel with just your ID, since UK is (still) an EU member.

No one in the right mind would be travelling without a passport, into Turkey and then trek into an occupied part of a country.

To not have even made contact with the issuing country is insane.

What is a "bank scanning machine" that one uses a passport and for what purpose, which can mangle a passport?

Sure it wasn't a shredder machines instead?

Thank for the replies. I still have the passport .Its just a bit faded after going through the wash and the page with the vital info was ripped out by a scanning machine in a bank in Spain when cashing a cheque and is now held in place by cellotape.The info on it is readable but I am just worried it maybe rejected especially for air travel.....Sam can be short for Samuel.But my real is Christopher......I have short hair and wash regularly ,shower once a day.I work when ever possible when work is available.I am on two work search websites which offer jobs in exchange for meals and accommodation .Helpx and workway.I have worked about 16 different peoples since leaving the UK ,the shortest time being two weeks for one host and the longest time 10 months .Mostly labouring ,such as gardening ,collecting and cutting firewood and stacking it ,looking after animals and clearing away undergrowth ,house and pet sitting,building work,olive picking and pruning (940 trees ,paid work)Most recent work removing old kitchens and old tiles from the walls from 16 rooms in a hotel.This and the money from my rented out apartment in the UK funds my travelling.Yes I have investigating replacing the passport even getting the replacement photos.The payment is made the forms are printed off and posted then the replacement sent by courier.Thanks for all the replies ,Happy New year to all.
