Android setup/options

Postby Get Real! » Thu Jan 10, 2019 5:54 pm

A question for those who are familiar with the stupid Android’s phone options.

When my wife sends messages they always get sent in caps regardless.

Looked around in the options (Greek is such a pain when it comes to options) couldn’t find anything related to the user’s typing/text.

What a load of junk!

Thanks for any help in advance dudes.

PS: I’d appreciate a “menu based” answer in this format: Step1 > step2 > step3 > step4

It only happens with Greek text right? That's because Cyta charges according to the bytes sent and Greek caps use less bytes compared to caps+lower case. The default setting on the phone is to economize on bytes sent. I don't remember what I did on my wife's Huwaei P20 I will check later and let you know. For the moment check the settings, maybe you should change from the automatic setting to unicode.

I never had a phone that did this by default. Not all Android phones are exactly the same, so step by step instantiations that work with my phone might not work with yours. First thing you should do is to change the language to English temporarily, so you can understand what you are reading. You can set it back to Greek later. Here are the step by step instructions for my phone, they could be similar for yours (or not!)

Step 1: Open the SMS app where you see a list of all SMS
Step 2: Open the menu of the SMS app (in my case 3 dots in the upper right corner)
Step 3: Select Settings
Step 4: Select Advanced
Step 5: Make sure that the option "Use Simple characters" is turned off

In your case maybe this option is named something a bit different, and it might not be in an "advanced" sub-menu.

On the P20 it's as follows
Open Messaging application/New message or more/press more:
Ρυθμισεις/Συνθετες Ρυθμισεις/Disable Βελτιστοποιηση 7-bit.
