Tsitsipas beats Federer

Postby Paphitis » Sun Jan 20, 2019 4:20 pm

A new star is born today.

Tsitsipas beat legendary Federer this evening in Melbourne. Amazing victory for an up and coming star, against the greatest tennis legend of all time.

Tsitsipas looks like he is a much better player than Bagdatis.

He looks like he might come across Nadal though, which is a tough ask.

This is a player to watch. He will be taking some Grand Slams I am sure.

I haven‘t watch Tsitsipas play yet, but Bagdatis never had a chance to become a great player since he was always to stocky which made him weigh too much, that he couldn‘t last more that 3 sets before running out of “gas“.

As for Federer, he has been great, but he will lose more and more with time. It is only natural given his age.

You should watch him. He is a good player and I think he will go a long way. He is however, young and needs more experience.

A friend told me Tennis Australia identified him in 2014 and were offering him inducements to represent Australia. He declined which I think is good. Greece needs this more.

Awesome for tennis.
Too bad Tsitsipas is not Cypriot.

He lives in Nicosia. I don’t know how that came about.

But apparently he was going to move to Australia and restore sent Australia because they were offering cash. Also offering professional elite coaching and Institute of Sport sponsorship.

Greece was and is still giving him not much support, if any at all.

That was always going to happen.

Nadal is a gun.

But Tsitsipas is an exciting player for the future.
