It seems they weren’t ordinary push/pull switches but spring loaded. IE, you had to physically pull them out before you could move them from one position to another. To avoid the kind of inadvertent operation you suggested. :?

I understand how the “ON-OFF” fuel switches work as explained by many, which is why the Captain’s sudden malfunctioning seat shooting backwards and his right hand grabbing the fuel switches inadvertently to brace himself, which would be a normal body reaction makes perfect sense, supported by one pilot asking the other why he has turned off the engines, as the other pilot rejected the accusation, then one pilot tried to re-start the engines, but was too late for them to be effective. If the fuel switches were deliberately turned off, why was an attempt made to restart the engines again within 10 seconds. Surely the culprit pilot would have prevented the other pilot from restarting the engines by just keeping his hand on the switches to block any attempt.

No doubt the truth will come out in the end. I am certain they will find out how the switches were switched off by the system assuming that they are going to look for it. The seat incident you mention is false.
