Congratulations for our player for his effort. The future belongs to him! The Cyprus government announced that they will award Pagdatis 150.000 pounds for his great performance.

Im so glad someone posted a topic to praise this young man. He is an inspiration to all of his fans. All Cypriots and Greeks and many others are proud of him taking out three top ten guys, One of them number 3 in the world Andy Roddick. Lets not overlook the fight he put up in the Finals against Roger Federer (number 1 in the world). He won the first set and came very very close in the second. We will see him in many more finals in the future and I am positive he will win himself a grand slam. Congradulations Baghdatis!!

Listen to his speech to the crowd after the match

Postby Mills Chapman » Sun Jan 29, 2006 7:50 pm

Here is a link to his on-the-court comments (his thank-yous) after the match to the crowd, his family, and everyone back in Cyprus. It is quite emotional to listen to: http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/tennis/4659858.stm (look on the right side for the interview with Marcos Baghdatis)

ESPN 2 will have a repeat of the game Mills. Not sure when. I taped it. Managed to watch the end given it was at 3:30 am here. It was very emotional for sure.

Even though he did not win the championship he won the hearts of most of the world. He is special for sure.
