Big news for nothing. They haven't accounted for the production of electrical Energy that drives the lasers.

Fission is now, as in MSR reactors, not for bombs but for their capacity to produce energy to scale.

...indeed, in thirty years when the MSR has quadrupled the world's energy production capacity, there will be for fusion too the necessary keys put together toward it becoming an even greater sustainable source of energy.

The first Fusion Reactors, i imagine will be huge in size, having the capacity to produce huge amounts of energy; will they be scalable as well?

Nuclear fusion has already been achieved multiple times.

The problem is, it requires huge energy (via pressure and or temperature) million times more than what exist on earth's surface. Even on the sun it doesn't occur on the surface but in the core.

Therefore what we might get from Nuclear fusion with the methods we use will always be less than what we spend.
This experiment with the lasers would be a success, if we had power stations producing electricity at 100% efficiency compared to the actual of ~30%! Even the current nuclear reactors have such low efficiency in producing electricity because they run steam turbines. So forget about electricity and electromagnets. The way we produce both is too inefficient.
