Federalism paper

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Federalism paper

Postby Jyrki21 » Tue Oct 05, 2004 10:52 am

Hello all... I just stumbled across this forum while unable to sleep.

I am a Canadian law student, unaffiliated with either major Cypriot ethnic group, but I have taken great interest in the island since living in the region (I was in Israel in 1998-99).

I ended up writing two separate papers about Cyprus during my undergrad career (admittedly sympathizing somewhat more with the Turkish Cypriots), and am heading toward a third now in law school.

The course that it concerns is called Comparative Federalism, and I was going to talk about federalism as a calming institution in volatile situations of conflict.

Is anyone able to refer me to articles they might know of online (formally or informally) which might discuss the prospect of federalism in a united Cyprus?

Thanks!

I would suggest to study a bit about power politics and how everything else is just used as a cover or excuse to serve the interests of the powerful.

The powerful, apart from everything else, are the ones who write the history and "educate" the masses that simply stay on the surface of things. (e.g. have you seen the movie "Black hawk down" and similar films? Those are good example of "powerful" education)
