Withdrawal of Turkish Troops

Postby Agios Amvrosios » Mon Feb 06, 2006 2:21 am

Has the call for the withdrawal of Turkish Troops occupying the northern area of Cyprus been side swiped?

In the past I remembergoing to rallies and protests here in Australia where both the Liberal(conservative) and Labour parties specifically called for an immediate troop withdrawal by the Republic of Turkey.

The Commonwealth has also often made statements calling for an immediate troop withdrawal by the Turks.

The call of the international community and the UN has always been for an immediate troop withdrawal not a withdrawal if and when it was expedient for the Occupation.

There can be no negotiations under the Duress of an illegal occupation.

rallies and protest were looong time ago. i remember some till the early nineties. as a kid i also participated in some.
the cypriots are currently protesting from their coffee-shops. usually they send proetsting sms to each other, and so fullfiled their duty to the country.

It's the same approach for Turkish Cypriots/North side(coffee shop/armchair protest) - another thing we Cypriots have in common!

Indeed we do, Rude Gal. We're the same people after all.

One love....

We are not CYPRIOTS.
There are two peoples.

Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot.

We are not second class citizens and we are not a minority. We are Greek Cypriot equals and will achieve our justice.

TurkCyp1. Believe what you want (although an objective view of the island's history might reveal otherwise) and allow me to do the same.

Only consider that my belief has been formulated, and is propagated, in the interests of unity whereas yours has been formulated and is propagated in the interests of division - a division which may suit Turkey, Greece and the foreign powers but does not suit a long-suffering island people with a 9,000 year history characterised by serial foreign occupation and exploitation. Invaders from west, east, north and south may have contributed to our culture, our language, our genes. But they could not supplant us. Nor could they crush our indomitable spirit.

Denktash is just one of many who claimed that the only true Cypriot is the donkey. But even if it were true, better a proud donkey than an ass trying to be a stallion.

I happen to have a lotta love for baba Denktash - though I understand why so many people do not. But this was a hilarious line. I must remember to use sometime.

After a stressful eve, this was exactly the tonic the Dr. ordered. Cheers C.

on this one we ll disagree my dear rude gal.
denktash is a person in the cypriot history who all gcs and a relative big number of tc have good reasons of not liking him.

The only solution for Cyprus
Join the USA.
They wanted Cyprus divided for military purposes anyway.
Sharing with them is much better than sharing with the turkey.
