Savannah, what do you want the reciever for?

Is it for a particular Satellite package? Did you want to get a pirate card for it?

Have you looked in advertising paper that comes out weekly (every Friday)?

I receive parcels on a weekly basis, and have never lost one yet. Ontop of that there are many safety mechanisms in place.

Postage can vary from seller to seller. Some people are dreamers and basically just make a price up. Others are reasonable. As an example. Purchase a CD for 9GBP and 1pound for postage. Same CD will cost me 16CYP.

What about import and VAT taxes? Do you have to pay?

Small items that fit in my POBox, I never have to pay taxes etc....

Even with larger items, you can usually squirm your way out of paying. Try telling the post master that the item is a no charge sample, or it is personal item of yours sent from home. Nine out of ten times you can get out of it, or at the very least they will charge you the minimum amount (couple of pounds).

Only ever had to pay import duty once for a car part from oz. Even after paying import duty the item still worked out to be half price of what was being charged in Cyprus.

My latest discovery is: Tell them you need the item today, but you don't have ANY money on you. Ask if you can pay with your card. Usually they get quite pissed off at this, and will say don't worry about it.......

Savannah, I will visit a Satellite shop in Larnaca tomorrow to discuss a business deal with the owner. I'll ask him if he has any digital recievers lying around that he will let go for cheap. If he has, I will let you know via PM.

Hi Savannah, he didn't have any recievers worth buying. The half good ones, he uses for testing purposes and the second hand ones are falling apart (you'll have problems with them in the long term).
