Is Ayia Napa dead??

Postby Nampou re » Sun Feb 12, 2006 12:52 am

Is our jewel in the crown (napa) past its sell by date or will the glory days return? Some clubs have decided to pack up, others just starting out.
Anyone have any views on this?
My opinion is that napa is a sleeping gaint waiting to erupt again.........

Napa aint dead, you still get the regulars going...but RnB doesnt have the mass appeal that house and trance does in Ibiza. Napa is basically the Ibiza for people into Black music...but musically it doesnt have such a big appeal around Europe.

I wouldnt say Napa is totally dead...but I dont think its a sleeping giant waiting to erupt again.

Napa isn't dead but unless it cleans itself up and gets back to quality tourism (which doesn't have to mean ripping-off the tourists) it will slip into a coma and within 5 years will die.

The worst thing Napa did was to try take over fronm Ibiza as the club capital of the Med.

I think the government became much stricter about the drug trafficking on that area. They also decided that the low income tourists that were mostly visiting Ayia Napa were not what they wanted. Ayia Napa still has a lot of tourism but it is different than the kind of tourism they had some years ago.

Not at all...there are a lot of people that want to go on holiday and listen to Black music...where in Ibiza they listen to dance music. Creating an alterantive clubbing destination was very good because it there was no holiday destination in Europe that specialised in that particular kind of music, even though there was a great demand.

I don't really care what music "they" want to listen to, the club scene which started in '98, and more or less died off in 2002, killed off a lot of the quality tourists that came to Ayia Napa every year.
