Christmas Lunch ( yes, I know it's a long way off !! )

Postby Rickers » Mon Feb 20, 2006 6:31 pm

Hi there - I'm a regular visitor to the site, but a new member.
I bring the family to Limassol every summer for our annual vacation away from cold, wet Scotland, but this year I also decided that I wanted to spend my 40th birthday in Limassol. Since I will be 40 on Christmas Day, I would be really, really grateful for any suggestions for places to go for lunch on that day.
We have friends in Limassol, but I do not wish to ask them for advice, in case it sounds like I am looking for an invitation for dinner at their house!!
Hotels, restaurants etc. in the Limassol district would be best, since that will cut down on the amount of driving I have to do on my birthday, since I will be very old and weak by then !
Any suggestions will be gratefully received.
Many thanks.

Hi Rickers, all the major hotels and some restaurants in Limassol and other towns have special Christmas, Eve, Day, Boxing arrangements and they cost depending on the hotel itself.

Thanks for that -- do you have any suggestions on which would be best to contact ?
I will have my wife and 2 kids ( aged 13 and 11 years ), so we do not want to dress up in evening gowns etc.

Amathus Hotel has probably one of the best buffet lunches in the island, Four Seasons, etc. Nah, you dont have to wear your gowns, but still you are not expected to be in the dining room in your shorts!!!

I'd personally call the Nags Head and see if they are doing anything. Its a very British type of pub with great food and atmosphere.

Thanks Hazza - is the Nag's Head in the tourist area of Limassol, so that I can try and find it online or through Directory Enquiries?
Cheers,

Its not too far from the tourist area. Directly opposite the Atlantica Hotel, round the back of Castle apts.

Went there the other morning for a proper English breakfast and picked up one of their cards which has their web address.

I can tell you of a decent pie and mash shop in Larnaca. Nicest pies you'll have tasted in a long long while :D
