The story about Rama/Krishna is called Ramayana and it is on TV sometimes. Rama is a warrior/king who lost his wife Sita to the demon Ravana, so he gathered a monkey army and rescued her. There are also other stories about Krishna that occured at different times in history. The Buddha is one example.

The Ramayana is popular in Fiji. There is a celebration every year to comemorate Rama's victory over Ravana. It may be popular in India too, but I have never been there so I don't know.

The Beatles were Hare Krishnas. I haven't heard it, but one of their albums has the Maha Mantra in it (I posted it a few messages back).
