Any Flight Simulation fans?

Postby djtrax98 » Sat Feb 25, 2006 4:14 am

Hey, i was just wondering, as i already know there are a lot of people interested in this in cyprus..
Is there any keen enthusiastic fans of the flight sim world who want to improve their reality by 100% in the game then get back to me. I have discovered something truly amazing that is available free of charge, that adds real life air traffic control and weather to your world..

well if you ar einto flight simulation this will make total sense to you.
Its a site called vatsim which allows you the pilot to connect to a global network of other pilots and air traffic controllers. If you have a mic and an internet connection you download the software called squakbox and the weather package which all installs itself, and your simulated world comes to life instantly with real world weather. Also real live communication with air traffic control whereby you talk to the controllers (who are just like you keen enthusiasts from all around the world who are logged on as atc controllers), and following real atc control to guide you through your flights and airports throughout flight simulator 2004.
When i logged on i was in larnaca airport, instantly the airport came to life around me with real traffic, and air traffic control, whats more the weather was instant real life weather also!
And the final twist- There is a Cyprus Airways virtual airline which fly the real cyprus airways planes to the real schedules consisting of about 20 flight sim fans from Cyprus. In the last 2 days, i have spoken to most of them who have welcomed me to their community and are arranging online gaming events through the network.
This would probably be boring to most people but if anyone reads this who is a flight sim fan, you will never LOOK BACK after this, trust me.
Any more info let me know.
Check this out:
http://www.avsim.com/hangar/air/vcy/

also if you are a flight sim fan, you will DEFINATELY want to download the new scenery available for larnaca airport which includes EVERYTHING right down to the luggage conveyor belt and the taxi stands outside the mian terminal! Truly great.

VATSIM is a quite old community now.. but welcome to the club.. unfortunately I don't have my desktop pc with me, so there is not much simming for me at the moment.
If you have acces to a prime newsserver go check out this group alt.binaries.warez.flightsim there are lots of FS9 apps.

I used to play like this on 1999-2000, it is avery old community and it really adds a lot, I thought there was a Cypriot part of it, if not I think most Cypriots are on the Hellenic Virtual ACC community which is rated as one of the best in Europe (at least it was) together with the Netherlands and UK. Try
http://www.avsim.com/greece/hvacc/, they offer training schedhules a lot of documentaions to learn about procedures and on-line STARs and other maps. It was really good when I was a student... I used to play over modem and was still fast enough be real I was PA2369 and used to fly a 737 doing chart flights between athens-cyprus-uk-amsterdam.

Djtrax,

Unfortunately beeing a professional does not leave me enough time to get involved into such a hobby... It was good when I was a student university but now not enough time. However fo those who like flying and FS it is the best online experience you can get.

If you want to ask any questions though I am free to answer! I could be considered fairly exoperienced flight sim pilot ;)

The best things that adds to extreme realism are

1. Use to sound cards, the primary would be for FS sound e.g. engines etc. and the second one use with headset and will only be for the radio!
2. Use a co-pilot and an audio mixer so that there are two headsets and internal communication
3. Use a subwoofer under your seat for engine vibration
5. Use either a proper Yoke-Pedals or a force feedback joystick with rudder control
6. Use two computers one for the instruments and the other for outside views.

and many many more!

Have fun! (I really miss it)
