I’m not convinced the Chinese government is involved in this because it’s a bit amateurish for a student to be carrying it on their person, when there are much better/safer ways to import this.

I know you haven’t accused the Chinese government of this in your thread but isn’t that what’s on everyone’s mind upon reading this story?

I suspect the students wanted to impress peers and professors by supplying something that such scientists would find “cool” without giving it much thought about the consequences of getting caught.

Wasn’t really thinking of it from a national POV (finger pointing). Rather, how ridiculously easy it seems to be nowadays for people with an even modest scientific background to be handling material which can have devastating consequences. Ricin and Botulinum come to mind.

Perhaps it won’t be nuclear fire that makes us extinct but some bug carried around and let loose by a lunatic. A real Satan Bug.
