Hi Eric

> any chance of getting freeview in Cyprus.

If you mean the set-top boxes that enable you to receive terrestrial digital broadcasts - no. There's no terrestrial digital broadcasts in Cyprus.

I don't know of any sites that compare prices in UK with those in Cyprus. Do you have any specific items in mind?

Hi Eric,

You can get power tools here, but a lot of the names I don't recognise. I bought myself a Bosch electric drill/screwdriver shortly after we arrived 4 years ago. I have seen some battery-operated tools here but there certainly isn't the range and variety as in the UK. There's only 500,000 or so people, so the market isn't as large.

I think you'd be better off bringing your tools with you - but other may have different ideas.

Hello Eric,

Wife and I are moving to Cyprus later on this year(depending when house is finished),The times we've been out she has been looking at household goods etc. and I the tools etc. side. She is now buying bedding, curtains and towels here in the UK. I'm taking my electric and battery tools, as from what I've seen they are a bit more expensive in Cyprus, unless I have been looking in the wrong places. I was wondering if there were any specific stores where expats shop for themselves? I do know that the developers will guide you to various stores that deal in packages of varying prices for furniture and white goods, these depend on the quality you require. But do you get a good deal. :?:

Eric,

Now your talking of a subject which gives very varied prices when you hunt around the UK.
We settled with a company from Lincoln at £1900 GBP for 385 cu ft including a 125cc scooter. Others were wanting £3000,£3600,£4000plus vat to mention a few. Some insisted on giving a whole container to ourselves, which we don't need. Delivery times varied from 4 weeks to 10 weeks depending on full or part container. So if its only the two items you sayyep I say its expensive.

Regards,

Rick.

Cheers for that £1900 sounds spot on to move our stuff out there in a container, tell me did you have to do your own securing of you your scooter and did you have to pay any duty at the Cyprus end, was the container big enough to take most of your household stuff, the bike and the 3 piece suite are about the most bulky itams we have the rest are tools and personal belonging were taking with us, can you remember the name of the company, hey you havent said were in Cyprus you went to and how your finding it..

Once again cheers
