Sending Items from UK to CY

Postby sneezing7 » Fri Mar 10, 2006 11:34 am

As the subject says I need to get something sent from the UK to CY.

Unfortunately the seller will not organise freight - They will pack it, but thats it.

Basically it is a small, but heavy parcel.

Any Advice?

Post office, EMS Datapost, if it's not too big. There are lots of freight companies in the yellow pages who have offices in the UK. I was able to send over my things when I moved here. It took 6 weeks mind.

Yes, it will depend on the weight and volume.

Check the post office and shippers like UPS.

I used FedEx recently and they were a complete nightmare though – to be avoided at all costs.

Forget the major courrier companies, like FedEX, DHL, UPS and the like and use normal Post Office / Datapost which is a lot cheaper. Or you can use the normal Forwarding companies that exist around in the UK.

Dont they all have a limit on the weight? UPS has a weight limit at least in the US. So does Fed ex. The dimensions of the package is not all that matters. How much does the package weight apprx?

I used to work for Fedex back in the UK. Unfortunately, in Cyprus, Fedex use Akis Express as a contractor which is where the problem may be. If the package was delivered late, you can claim for a full refund as the Fedex money back guarantee.

PM me if you need more details on this CG.

Thanks for your help.

The problem was mainly the office staff in Limassol – the most ignorant and rude bunch of people I’ve ever come across in all my years of business.

Consequently, by virtue of them giving part information on several occasions, it took weeks to clear a simple shipment from the US.
