Passport stamped in Northern Cyprus

Postby ayjvee » Fri Mar 17, 2006 12:08 am

Hi
I wonder if anyone can help with a possible problem I have just encountered?

In September 2005 me and my Wife visited Northern Cyprus for a two-week holiday. We both had our passports stamped at Ercan Airport, unaware at the time that we could have asked for a loose sheet of paper to be stamped as we intended to holiday (again) back in the Southern Republic of Cyprus this year.

For this year, on April 22nd 2006, we have booked a two-week holiday in the Southern Republic of Cyprus, but have just been told by a friend that, because we had our passports stamped in Northern Cyprus, we are no longer welcome to holiday in the Southern Republic of Cyprus.

From information I have gained on the Internet, it would seem that it is only after these passport stamps are cancelled by the “Immigration Authorities of the Republic of Cyprus” that we will be allowed to visit for our holiday.

I wonder if you would be kind enough to let me know how, and where, to contact the “Immigration Authorities of the Republic of Cyprus” in order for me to get the stamps removed from our passports? We have only a few weeks to go before our holiday and I am really worried about this.

I really hope you can help.

Many thanks

,

Where are you from? The best thing is to call the Cyprus embassy in your country and they will arrange it.

Hi,
Do you mean they'll arrange to remove the stamps from Northern Cyprus?
Thanks

I would also inform you there is no 'Southern Republic of Cyprus' but there is a 'Republic of Cyprus'...or are you implying that the occupation in the north of Cyprus is legitimate?

Hey, get off your high horse buddy. I asked a simple question and you're getting edgy with me. I'm polite so I expect you to be polite. I'm implying nothing at all, except that you ought to think before you type in an aggressive manner toward me!

everyone relax I'll call my dada (god father) he was formerly a mouctari(village headman) in Occupied Cyprus maybe he has connections to smuggle you in.You may have to be rolled into a carpet.

You have to buy him a bottle of Gordon's Gin, OK?

How can you be 'pointing out a fact' whilst suggesting I supported the occupation of Northern Cyprus?
My question had neither political, racist or religious content, all I wanted to know was whether or not anyone could help with a problem I have with 'stamped' passports!
I strongly suggest some kind of surgery to remove that giant chip on your shoulder.

As far as I am aware you will not have a problem, the stamp is cancelled on entry to the south. You van put your mind at rest by contacting the travel agent?
