Am in a dilema, can't decide between booking BA or CY for my flight to Cyprus. Does any one know the latest position with Cyprus Airways, are they still having problems?

I think titantigger is refering to the general state of the company. The pilots have been striking without warning and causing headaches and problems for all concerned with passengers stuck and having to wait a day or seek alternative flights if CA can't locate help from Eurocypria. CA are as safe to fly as anyone else so don't worry peaches. As for a choice between CA and BA, I also have to say to BA. But the BA planes to Cyprus are always the older ones in the fleet and often have a cruddy looking interior.

Go with BA. My parents were due to fly to England for a holiday and to tie up some personal business. They were due to fly out at 3.30am, so they had a taxi booked over here, a taxi already paid for at Heathrow airport and appointments for the following day to attend. 9.30pm they get a call saying the flight has been cancelled. This was on a Sunday night and they couldn't be put on another flight till the Thursday.

I've personally vowed to avoid Cyprus Airways at all costs.

cyprus airways are shite. expensive, elderly fleet of planes, weird stewards, piss poor food. Dont bother.

BA or Excel airways are way forward.

Sack of Cyprus Airways. Go British every time.

this is probably because you are used to fly with boeing aircraft and Cyprus Airways use Airbus. The sounds you get on the cabin are completely different.

Thank you all for contributing to my pension scheme its much appreciated! BA are excellent but I would say that wouldnt I.

Cyprus Airways have an excellent safety record, their Engineering staff and Pilots are second to none in the aviation industry. Unlike some other carriers that I've flown with over many years I'm as confident flying with CA as I am flying with BA, the name of the game being to travel and arrive in safety anything else being just iceing on the cake!
