Export of duty free car

Postby sandysdad » Fri Mar 24, 2006 2:43 pm

I have a duty free car, which it appears I cannot sell in Cyprus. At least without paying more than the worth in duty.
I'm moving back to UK. My question is can I export the car back to UK and use it there? It is about 8 years old, in good condition-seems a shame to scrap it.

Hi Sandysdad,

There's nothing to stop you importing your duty-free car into the UK, buy you may be required to pay whetever the duty is in the UK on arrival.

Thanks nhowarth. I'm struggling with the concept of whether it is financially viable to do this.
Presumably I could use it as a visitors car for a limited amount of time.

Yes you can use it for up to six months before getting it registered on UK plates.
