Precisely.

If the goods are less than CY£500 the post office will tend not to bother with it.

However, all goods that arrive from outside the EU that are not gifts or items that have been shipped abroad for repair should be subject to VAT and any applicable duties.

I watched a Cypriot in the Limassol post office the other day haggling over a part for his car and trying to agree the value and therefore appropriate taxes. :?

does anyone know how it works when shipping goods from the uk.
When I come over in august I want to bring a shipment (container ) over with all my clothes, music and electrical things like video, dvd, computers and my TVs.

What happens when they get to customs in cyprus in regards to paying import taxes and any other costs I may incurr.

Also has anyone got a clue how long the things should generally take to reach my apartment in Larnaca?

cheers

Once you have paid VAT of the goods in one EU country there should be any problems at all bringing it into another EU country. However there are special rules when it comes to cars, MC's, alcohol, tobacco and perfume (think that's all).

You can bring all of your personal belongings in without any problems or taxes.

Your TV’s may need modification if you want to watch Cypriot TV.

Another way to import from US to Cyprus (or to anywhere else for that matter) is by getting a US mail address. ¨
