Internet Explorer 7

Postby Sotos » Sat Mar 25, 2006 2:35 pm

Anybody got the IE7? I downloaded it but I did not install it because it would uninstall IE6 and I am not sure I should do that since IE7 is still a beta. http://www.microsoft.com/windows/IE/ie7 ... irect.mspx

Hi Sotos,

A phrase that includes the words 'ten foot' and 'bargepole' springs to mind.

I agree.

‘Microsoft’ and ‘beta’ in the same sentence is definitely something to keep away from.

Tried it... stay away, unstable and causes some sites to crash completely.Plus Windows Updatestops working with it.

Wait for the final..... u can install it though and it will uninstall back to IE6 without a prob.

Use it most of the time, but has problem rendering certain pages, so you cant do without explorer as a backup.... plus not all needed plugins are firefox supported

well it actually depends what you use your internet for. 99.8% of the time I can do without internet explorer. I still have to use it now and then, but the less I use it the better as far as I am concerned :)

I use firefox and IE6. But I saw some screenshots of IE7 and it looks very nice with many nice features. tcklim, which version of IE7 did you try? The latest beta was out just 5 days ago and I hear it is much more stable.

Hi Sotos,

I only joined the forums a few days ago so this is my first post

I have been using the latest beta (20th March) for a couple of days now and it seems pretty stable on my PC and all of the sites I normally visit open and display ok.

My first thoughts are mixed, the displayed fonts seem clearer, particularly in forums like this one and everything is there, just in different places but the RSS feed looks as though it could be useful, however, overall I'm not sure that it has been worth it. I will give it another couple of weeks and see how I feel then.
