‘You ‘CAN’ Make a Difference!’

Seriously ill children from all over Cyprus are treated at the Makarios Paediatric Hospital in Nicosia, which is a premier provider of health care for ill children throughout the island and provides compassionate care and expertise to children in need.
Medical equipment and facilities at the Makarios Hospital is constantly in need of being upgraded to ensure quality care for these children.

Here In Cyprus is a charity dedicated to raising funds for this hospital, in turn, offering a higher quality, efficient and immaculate standard of care that these poorly children are greatly in need of.
The Charity is called ‘Cans for Kids’ and is a registered charity, which was formed in 1990. The charity operates by relying on people in Cyprus to dispose of their aluminium cans in the ‘Cans For kids’ banks. The cans are then collected and then the money the charity makes from the sale of the cans goes straight to helping this worthwhile cause.

So far, more than 16 million cans have been collected, and over £120,000 worth of equipment has been donated to the Makarios Hospital in Nicosia. ‘Cans For Kids’ also raises awareness of the benefits of recycling by visiting schools to give talks and show the ‘Cans For Kids’ video explaining why we should recycle aluminium to protect the environment.

Throwing your aluminium cans away is infact throwing away the potential income for ‘Cans For Kids’ which would go towards making the facilities and equipment better at the hospital.
Many people in Cyprus have already jumped on board with helping out with this worthwhile cause by recycling their used aluminium cans in the ‘Cans for Kids’ banks instead of throwing them away and its greatly appreciated.

Getting into the "recycling habit" couldn't be easier: just keep a bag or container handy near your waste bin and throw empty cans in there rather than the dustbin. When the container is full, take the cans to your nearest ‘Cans For Kids’ can bank, and we'll do the rest.
PLEASE don't trash it - let us cash it!
By participating in this simple yet worthwhile task you will play a key role in supporting essential programs and equipment that might not otherwise be possible.

‘Cans For Kids’ has received much appreciated support from several Cyprus companies such as, ‘Cybarco’, ‘Lefkaritis Bros’, ‘Cyprus Trading Corperation Ltd’, ‘Unicars’ and ‘Cyta’.
‘Cans For Kid’s’ needs additional companies to help this cause too by sponsoring a ‘Can Bank’, which costs £250.00. This means that there will be more ‘Can Banks’ available, inturn, meaning an increase in aluminium cans collected. Once a company has sponsored a can bank the companies sign is printed on the can bank advertising the companies support.
Donations are also greatly in need of, as the charity urgently needs to purchase a new, semi-automatic cans baler, which will cost £16,000. Letters have been written to companies and individuals asking for donations to help them reach this target and the response has been gratifying. Contributions have so far been received from as far a field as Russia, New Zealand and the Czech Republic, as well as Cyprus. To date they have almost £3,000.
Thank you to everyone who has kindly given donations and to everyone already on board with bagging up their used cans for us, we can’t do it without you!
Please tell your friends and family about the ‘Cans For Kids’ recycling scheme and the potential income they could give to ‘Cans For Kids’.
