Car Insurance

Postby Hazza » Sun Apr 02, 2006 2:06 pm

My insurance is up for renewal in a weeks time, but my current insurers, Gan Direct have put the price up from £162 that I paid last year to £181. I wouldn't mind so much if I had an accident or a claim, but it was a clean year I had with them.

Does anyone know of any other insurence companies who are fairly reasonable? Better still, are there any insurance companies where I can spread the payments over x amount of months?

Gan Direct is not as cheap as it used to be. Some weeks ago I've heard somebody saying that they are not cheaper than others anymore. Some others:

When my car was new I used to insure with the general insurances of BOC as they are reliable and offer a quick service but they are rather more expensive!. As my car now is not new (10 y/o) these factors are not important to me and since the risk of being involved with an accident has declined I have switched to Minerva as I got the cheapest quote. It Depends what you are looking for!I suggest you contact some of them to offer to you their quotes and you can make up your mind afterwards. The more quotes you get the better!

I've been with Gan Direct for some time now and I can say I'm quite happy with them. Hazza all the insurance companies increased their premium since last year. As for Eurosure my parents used them for some years with no problems at all. As for Laiki, my company car is insured with them, and when I claimed some damages on my company car, it took them exactly one year to send us the cheque....

Laiki sounds like a good insurer then!

Does anyone know if any of these companie do monthly installment, or failing that, quarterly insurance?

AVOID Laiki !!!

I had my apartment insured with them a few years back. We got flooded by the people upstairs and they refused to pay out. They kept me running from one department to another, telling me to phone Nicosia, Nicosia tell me to phone Limassol, Limassol tell me they are closed, etc etc you get the picture.

In the end they flat out refused to pay for the damages, claiming that we were not covered by our policy. Later we had the policy translated to English and it seems that we were in fact covered, whcih was clearly misinformation and breach of contract on their behalf.

Now with GAN Direct and very happy with them.

Nah wasn't worth it

I squeezed the owner of the flat upstairs to pay for all damages and also give me some 'headache' money for my trouble.

At first he refused, but later he paid up after I threatened to shop him to the income tax office for non-declaration of rental income

You gotta do, what you gotta do...
