Going to Egypt...

Postby Newformz » Mon Apr 10, 2006 11:28 am

Hi,

Can anyone recommend a good but also not so expensive flight or 1 day cruise etc to Egypt from Limassol/Paphos? I have just met a very nice girl and she really wants to go to Egypt but im struggling to find any information online.

Has anyone been there or recommend any companys etc?

Also any recommendations on nice places to take a girl out in Limassol? I have taken her to a few places which she really enjoyed, i have been here for around 7 months now but the local knowledge is always helpful! :D

Thanks.

Egyptair fly from Larnaca to Cairo, not sure if that's daily or a few times a week, journey is about an hour; booking from UK I recently paid about £125 for a return flight.

Hotels in Cairo can be found fairly inexpensively via Expedia. Taxi fare from airport to pyramids area which also takes about an hour is in region of £12.

The one offered by Sea Island and I believe Louis going by air from Paphos is fantastic. Around C£180 but it includes all the transport around Cairo, with a guide. I went with a friend and we found it the best excursion we had. We had plenty of time in the Cairo Museum with Tutankamun's treasures, and had a pleasant stay at the Pyramids, there was a small extra charge to go inside a pyramid but this cut down the time of walking around the doutside and seeing the size of them. We had lunch provided in a 5* hotel and then the evening meal was on a floating restaurant on the nile with a folklore Egyptian show. Finally we had a visit to a market in the evening before returning to the airport. This trip is twice a week. The extra you pay over an airline ticket will be money very well spent. I forgot we also visited the Papyrus studio and a tourist type shop jewellers.

that sounds great but is it possible to not have a guide and skip all the tourist stuff? or is it all inclusive as a package? just want to enjoy the place in our own time. :)
