Gov Grants for Restoration on old properties

Postby bungle » Thu Apr 13, 2006 2:31 pm

Hi, I'm interested in purchasing an old (circa 1910) house in Larnaca and don't know whether I would be eligible for a Gov. restoration grant or not. The house has been restored, sorry that should read badly bodged. It needs sorting out to make it habitable.

The house is not currently protected though there seems to be some talk that it could be if wanted?? I read in 'Buying a property in Cyprus' published by The Sunday Times that there is in existence somewhere a publication (in English) that gives all details on how to apply etc for the grant.

Any info on this or basically how to go about buying an old house in need of restoration would be welcome.

Hi bungle

Most people have found that the Grants are not as generous as they hoped and the paperwork, delays and inspections horrendous. My advice is to be cautious.
