expect some home sickness tho it can hit hard especially in winter when there is naf all to do. I personally love it here, sun sea sand great food cheap bills.
On the other hand crap money dodgy roads, and drivers, and some bloody big insects!

Homesick, of course. However, I live in the UK for 6 yeas now and got used to being away from my country (if you can ever do...). I am very tired of the stressful life in London and think that Cyprus will be ideal for me. I love the sea, the people, the food......almost everything.

Thank you for sharing your experince with me.

Where are you originally from Blue, if you don't mind us asking?

If you want to come to live in Cyprus, my personal advice would be to bring alot of money with you but don't treat it as a holiday. When I say alot of money, by that I mean enough money to get you by until you find a job here.

Hello Hazza,

I am Bulgarian. Been to Cyprus few times and now coming again to visit a friend from university. Just a small break, can't really call it holiday, :D.

I am serously considering coming to live in Cyprus and won't treat it as a holiday. Started learning Greek and although progress is slow for my liking I am enjoying it a lot. Also if I decide to make the move will try to secure work before I move. I have a great job in London but unfortunately have realised that England is not quite for me. The Cypriot culture and livestyle suits me better, -). Having such a good job though make is more difficult to make a firm decision to move over.

Indeed blue, but you have to consider longer vacations in a way to try to get involved in this lifestyle..

I took a similar view, wanted to live in Cyprus and was saving up hard to have money to last until i found work. Fortunatly i managed to get a transfer in work to the Cyprus office, and it paid well.

The costs of living here are getting higher in my opinion, average shopping bill is the same as the UK, cars are dearer to buy, but a lot cheaper to run (my insurance is £100cyp as opposed to 900ukp).

If you are looking for a job before you come over it is a great move, however, ensure the job pays well, salaries can be very low (my neighbour is a salesperson in a furniture shop and only earns £350cyp a month!!)

hope this helps you see it in reality, i heard many myths when i was planning the move, now i am experiancing it, and although the risk factor, it seems to be working out well for me and it is the best thing i have done in my life (4 weeks and 2 days):)
