Ok, a couple questions...

Postby vintagechick » Thu Apr 20, 2006 4:24 pm

Right, so, just came back from Cyprus (short vacation), and actually now I've been thinking of going and finding a job over there (Limassol preferably)...so, anyone from Europe who's got some experience...how difficult is it get some work?...as a waitress, in Starbucks ets., what's the average wage?, how much per hour? Is the knowledge of Greek necessary? How much per month for an accomodation...? Any advice welcome!

Oh, and I'm 23, from Czech Republic = EU.

you should not generalize stuff like that. There are foreign chains like TGI and stuff like that that are pretty nice to work for. Also lot of Cypriot employers are mean to especially foreigners but not all of them. And also, people take advantage of you as much as you permit them to, so if you are a strong person and you really want to make the move, I think you should go for it.

To be honest, it is "THAT BAD" your chances of finding a decent employer in the catering business are in the rocking horse shit league.

If you have any other skills you might be able to earn a living wage, or even a reasonable income but you'll probably need to live or work in Nicosia to do so.

If you're going to come here anyway I suggest to bring enough money to support yourself for 3 months while you're looking, if they think you're desperate they'll screw you (only metaphorically if you're lucky) even more.

Sorry, but you did ask.

hm, okay then...kinda sorry to hear that in fact, cuz was seriously thinking of relocating to cyprus for a while...but seems like staying in england a bit longer makes more sense = having accomodation free and being paid 5 uk pounds per hour is not too bad thinking of it now :p ...ok, thx!
