Morals

Postby reportfromcyprus » Wed May 03, 2006 9:42 pm

What is a true moral made of? A simple refusal to try anything tempting or dangerous? A desire to live a quality life?

How much strength does having morals require? Is it easy?

Do we have to care about this anymore? It seems that people are too cool to worry about it 8)

since as human race we managed to build a legal system and a police , i dont think we really bother about morals. they are well defined and we obey them - we dont get in the process of thinking about them.

Diferent cultures have different morals. And morals can change with time also. I don't think there is such thing as the correct morals. But as cypezokyli said we have laws. So feel free to do anything immoral you want as long as it is legal ;) But of course people might not like you if you do not act according to what they believe is moral. So you have to think about that if you care of the opinion of others. :P

I think each person has their own morals that derive from what they have been taught and also what they have experienced in life.

Morals are a list of principles based on cultural, religious, and idealistic concepts and beliefs that an individual uses in order to determine whether a given action is right or wrong.

Moral philosophy is hard thought about right action.
-Socrates

Simplified its about how we feel about ourselves, most people do what makes them feel good about themselves, difficult to do bad and feel good.
Morality is an internal reference that can be from a number of sources, religion gives us precepts on how to behave and think, parents do to, Laws also. Values morals and meaning are intertwinned, they are our internal rules to live by, strength of character, but many take the moral high ground and do the opposite in their real life. Hipocrasy is rife, the appearance to seem rather than to be. But at the end of the day isnt it about treating others how we would wish to be treated with just fairness and respect.
