Learning Greek

Postby Niki » Sun May 07, 2006 5:21 pm

Could anyone please recommend a good "learn Greek" cd system I can buy in the UK?

I have bought a couple of books with cd's including the BBC version but they are limited. The BBC after the first section expect you to have learned the Greek alphabet and all instructions use Greek letters which will be fine further into my knowledge but not so soon.

The best time for me to learn is in the car so a good cd version would be best.

Thanks

Niki

A very small amount as I've only just started.

Simon - it may help me to find a Cypriot friend if I can speak a little Greek maybe?

Hi Niki.
A good CD for basic greek is the earworms cd's series. A musical brain trainer, you can buy it online @ www.earwormslearning.com as a CD or you can download it.
Hope that helps

sadik did suggest this one :
CYBC has an excellent audio course at http://www.kypros.org/LearnGreek . The course is composed of 105 audio files, each about 15 minutes. It's one of the best audio courses that I've seen for ANY language. You can burn them on a CD an listen to them as many times as you would like in your car. The course will take you from a beginning level to an early advanced level. On the web site you can also find student notes, discussion forums, etc... Respect to Mr. Leonidas Koullis who prepared the course.

They still play this on CyBC. I think on the second channel. It must be very old though. Some days ago I was listening to it and they were talking about shillings!!!
