2nd Most Important Political Problem CY?

Postby reportfromcyprus » Thu May 11, 2006 3:47 pm

What gets your vote as the second most important political problem in Cyprus?

1. The effect of Turkish Cypriot voters on the parliamentary elections?
2. Football hooliganism and the ineffectuality of the government to end it?
3. Road fatalities & the government's failure to reduce them?
4. Your own opinion.

1. The effect of Turkish Cypriot voters on the parliamentary elections?

No. There is no effect.
2. Football hooliganism and the ineffectuality of the government to end it?

Thats a big one. In Greece is the same. Yesterday the AEK fans destroyed the ferry that took them back to Athens after they lost the cup final in Crete

3. Road fatalities & the government's failure to reduce them?

Thats a big problem. But I think the problem is with the mentality of some drivers not the government.
4. Your own opinion.

Rousfeti. And if you don't speak Cypriot or Turkish that means that for everything you need connections. Connections in Cyprus are more important than abilities. Thats the 2nd biggest problem in my opinion.

The meso or the rousfeti

All the useless ones get the good jobs because they belong to one or other political party.
Big problem if you ask me.

rousfeti

Does rousfeti have a tangible effect on the efficiency of the government? I know that some of the EU reports on Cyprus pointed out a certain level of corruption - is that the same as rousfeti?

Probably.
However when a not appropriately qualified person obtains a position in the government like the Cyprus embassy in London were half of them don’t speak proper English. You can understand that it is not beneficial for the country.

The second most important problem has to be politicians themselves!
