Yay, someone said something nice about Liverpool!!!! Niki - I grew up in Liverpool too. I may be in Cyprus but I'll always be a scouser.

Hello barcardi - fellow scouser

I've been away from Liverpool for many years but still go back to see family - since the 'Capital of Culture' investment it really is a fantastic place now. 6 years ago it was not so good but it has transformed. The people have always been the best thing about it.

We have been toying with the idea of moving to the Wirral but decided Cyprus would be better for us but we can still fly from Liverpool to Cyprus.

Cyprus is slightly different from Wirral! Been here almost 2 years and despite the ups and downs, I wouldnt go back to Liverpool unless I really had to, even though I am a red through and through. Liverpool, like any other major city has its bad points but the people there are totally unlike any other(perhaps with the exception of the Irish) and they more than make up for the any shortcomings the place may have.

I get used to the ribbing about the accent as I have moved about a bit (I still sound exactly the same though)and just laugh as though Ive never heard the usual scouser 'jokes' before. The ones telling them expect you to get on the defensive over them so its easier just to laugh and then think they're a tosser.

Liverpool may not be my home anymore but I still love it and love the nights out I have whenever I go back! God I miss them.
By the way flights from Liverpool are stupidly expensive, Manchester is much cheaper and not that much of a trek back to sunny Old Swan.

I grew up in Old Swan - very upmarket place!!! I lived opposite the abbatoir on Prescot Road - Aviemore Road.

Of course I'm much posher now - I have a lovely converted barn in Suffolk which couldn't get any different. Better place for my kids to grow up.

I am really looking forward to Cyprus although we won't be able to move for a year or so.
