Any suggestions on how to lose post-pregnancy tummy?

Postby Debbie » Fri May 12, 2006 6:16 pm

My sister has been struggling to tighten up the last of her post-baby tummy.

She does about 300-400 crunches per day, but cannot seem to make any further progress.

Never had a baby and cannot offer any valid suggestions

What gets loose? The muscles or she got fat? If its the muscles then she should do crunches. If she needs to loose fat then she should do a diet and run. I think it might take up to a year to get fit again after pregnancy. When did she deliver?

It's her muscle tone --- and she's been doing crunches since she was well enough to do so. She delivered 8 months ago.

Funny thing is she doesn't have a single stretch mark --- great skin elasticity, little fat but poor muscle tone.

swimming is good, streamlines the body, i lost pounds and it also changed the shape of my body. And its not a hard impact sport.

The muscles separate to allow the tummy to stretch which is why muscle tone is more difficult to achieve after having a baby - unfortunately there are always exceptions who make everybody else feel inadequate. The muscular structure changes - there's nothing you can do about this.

This is one of the things that women generally have to accept and realise that having this wonderful baby makes these things trivial in comparison so not to get too hung up about it.

Womens bodies take at least 15 months to recover (although it will never be the same as before) so she may not be doing herself any favours by worrying about it too much.

My kids are older and my tummy is pretty much back to what it was but it takes a while.

If all else fails there's always tummy tuck or lipo!!
