Smoking in

Postby Mickleham » Mon May 15, 2006 4:31 pm

Does anyone can expalined to us the law in relation to smoking in the restaurants

Is this legal?

Is there any authority to enforce the law?

How MANY prosecutions were made by the authorities, from people and businesses that do not apply/obey the law?

Do we go to the restaurants to eat the delicious cypriot food or to inhale the smoke from the phil morris of england produce?

same as england i think, its up to the restaurant if they want to allow smoking. ive never really had a problem in restaurants, i ask for the non smoking section and its usually fine. its summer now, sit outside.

The smoking ban has been in force in Scotland now since the end of March, and there have been no problems at all.

Smokers now have to leave pubs, clubs and restaurants and smoke outside, and most establishments have now built gazebos or open-ended shelters for this purpose.

There have been hardly any arrests or fines or prosecutions, as most people are law-abiding citizens, and it has led to a much nicer, cleaner lifestyle for those of us who do not smoke but who wish to have an enjoyable social life.

Clean air is a birthright , NOT a privelege !

why is it that we are to smoke outside, previously there were smoking/non smoking divisions, which in my opinion worked. making smokers go outside, surely this is a breach of human rights and freedom.

i remembered one story:a friend of mine come to cyprus for holidays, in the evening we went to the bar. at once after entering it she said its better to leave it beacuse smoking is not allowed here. on exit we were catched by an owner of the bar and he asked us why we decided to leave, my friend explained why and he said: "Ate re, its CYYYYYPRUS! Here everybody smokes everywhere!" and we stayed and my friend was smoking exactly under NO SMOKING sign
i dont smoke but smokers dont bother me 8)

Because even if you go in a smoking section, smoke still gets to the non-smoking section for which of course the smokers couldnt give a dime since they dont mind the smoke. If you want to smoke and cause yourself to get sick, then you can have respect for other people's health and go wherever smoking is allowed.

Smoking has to be one of the worst habits there is, therefore if you want to smoke and smell of smoke ( you and your clothes ) just do it where it does not bother anyone else. The problem is, smokers want to be accepted by the society and want to continue smoking around anyone and everyone including infants, as they have done for generations. For generations non smokers have put up with your disgusting habits, now the least you can do for us is to go and smoke outside ( far away from the entry door, please ) the restaurant, bars, clubs and yes from your home if you have a family member who does not smoke..it's also good for your wall paint and curtains as not to turn sick yellow.
