Shame Vissi has some kind of fit half way through the song - rolling on the floor!

I do not really care much about soap operas like the Eurovision song competition, but I would like to condemn RIK (CyBC) and the sucker called Konstantinos Christoforou for the foolish, amateurish and illegal way and manner in which they presented last nights Cyprus’ voting results. CyBC is a semi-State (public) broadcasting corporation, and as such it should respect the laws and the constitution of this country, and the separate identity of each Cypriot tax payer! The name of this country is Cyprus and the name of the citizens of this country is Cypriots. Not all Citizens of this country are of Greek Cypriot origin, and therefore CyBC has a duty to respect this fact. CyBC and the above sucker have absolutely no right, while speaking on behalf of the entire Cypriot public, to say that they speak on behalf of the Greeks only (sic)! I believe this act constitutes a falsification and a misrepresentation of Cypriots identity in front of the whole of Europe, and is also illegal (unconstitutional!) I would like everyone who feels the same, to also condemn this act here in the forum! I am also personally examining the grounds for a potential lawsuit against CyBC!

Kifeas, I agree with your sentiment wholeheartedly. I was absolutely disgusted at the undisguised Enosis agenda from CyBC and if I was a Cypriot national (which as yet I am not) I would be furious.

Once again, as I have argued so many times on this forum, it removes the independent, adult, status of Cyprus and shows the world that it remains nothing more than a little kid scurrying back to the skirts of its beloved mama. Everybody knows the voting is political, and everybody knew that Cyprus would give Greece 12 points – it has become a great and comical tradition. But then to diminish the nation in such a subservient way on screen too does Cyprus no credit.

Independence is a status more valuable than anything. Look at Cyprus' history – it has not been an independant nation since prehistoric times, literally! And now it has this most precious of states, it seems desperate to throw it away. Shame on the CyBC!

I watched the Eurovision too, shame the Greek Cypriots had to get a comment in about the country being the only split capital in the world! You think they could have let it lie for something so light hearted but no straight in there!

This was no problem to have been said, because at least this was a fact! It is with all the rest of what this "VW beetle" presenter has said that there is a problem!

Hearing what was said

If you go to this link...

http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio2/

you can click on the Listen Again feature and hear the whole show if you have the RealOne Player on your PC. You can jump forward in fifteen minute chunks to the voting if you can't bear to listen to the whole thing!

I think the whole song should be about this and not stupid love songs.

Everybody knows the voting is political, and everybody knew that Cyprus would give Greece 12 points – it has become a great and comical tradition.

Cyprus has 82% Greek population. What did you wanted them to vote for? Do you think there is a chance that Latvia with the 30% Russians (not 82%) will ever not give its 12 points to Russia? Even the 12 points of Germany are now certain beyond any doubt when the 3% of Turks in Germany keep voting like crazy.
Yesterday I could predict the 10 and 12 point votes that half of those countries would give, something that anybody with a bit of knowledge should be able to do.

One more example: Bosnia votes and you know that no matter how good or bad the songs were that the 8,10 and 12 points would be shared between their 2 participating neighbours (Croatia and FYROM) and Turkey. Was there any doubt about this?

Independence is a status more valuable than anything. Look at Cyprus' history – it has not been an independent nation since prehistoric times, literally! And now it has this most precious of states, it seems desperate to throw it away. Shame on the CyBC!

Independence was never given to Cyprus my friend. Independence would mean to let us decide in a democratic way about the destiny of our own island. Not only they didn't let us do that, not only they kept their armies and bases here, they didn't even let us make our own constidution. (and you know who "they" are, don't you?)
