contracetptive pill

Hi Peeps

Can anyone advise on how to get the contraceptive pill in cyprus.
In the UK, you go to a nurse who checks your blood pressure asks if you are generally ok etc and then gives you a couple of months supply, then you just go back and get checked over again and so on. they are also free of charge.

do you pay for them in cyprus and are they given to you by a GP?

Cheers me dears

Hi Jazzy,

In Cyprus you go to a gynaecologist who then recommends a pill for you based on medical history and then you get a prescription and get it filled in a pharmacy.

The pill is not free of charge, prices range from CYP 6 - CYP 10 depending on the brand.

A GP can prescribe one too, but normally it's gynaecologists. The doctor's visit costs between CYP 10 and CYP 20, depending on the doctor.

sorry, this is a bit delayed as havent been away for a while,

is this done on a monthly basis, in the uk, you get a 6 month supply of the pill at each visit to the nurse.

In cyprus do have to visit the gyno..each month and only recieve one months supply, that works out quite costly....or do you go once every couple of months and get like a 6 month supply for a total of 6-10cyp.

hope this makes sense.

thankyou x

Each packet of pills costs between CYP 6-10 - the doctor can give you a prescription for six months so you don't have to keep going back, and the doctor's visit is an extra charge.

..Or you can walk into a pharmacy and tell them what you want, pay for it and leave, I've done it for my wife more times than I can count, and never taken a prescription.
