What does it take to keep you Cyprus-Forumers on topic?

Blood? Money? Sex? Cookies?

:P

Chocolate cookies would be nice. I would love to eat some now but the only thing I have home is milk and cereals :( If I had all kinds of things at home I am not sure I would not be able to resit! ... what was the topic again? :P

If the topic is boring then you get 1-2 answers on topic. If the topic is interesting then it develops in all kind of directions. There you go. You got the answer. End of topic on staying on topic :(

When developing a line of reasoning or argument, keeping to the subject is key.

Diverging from the topic or subject is a sign that the argument or line of thought you're presenting is at the worst flawed, at best, superficial 8) .

I've noticed that happens a fair amount in life as well as in forums.

In the spirit of debate, one can try at least to stick to the point :)

Maybe going off the subject is what you think is happening but thats subjective. Maybe something one person thinks is off topic for someone else it isnt. So for all you know its just the way yopu see things. Fopr example if someone started a thread called why do GC's hate Turks(remember its just an example). then a Gc says I hate them because they killed and raped my family in Famagusta in 1974. Then someone else says oh mine too. Where in Famagusta was your family in? Maybe that looks off topic to you, but not for the 2 people posting. and maybe even if people veer off the topic, we still learn some things about whats being saoid. Thats how life is and we need to accept. Its a roadtrip and no matter how much you want to keep to the plans you make, there are always closed roads and diversions. Topic shmopic. whatever.

But can there be just one point? If you write a whole paragraph then there might be several points in it. Maybe you want the topic to be on one of the points but what if I want to comment on another one? :?
