Cost of living

Postby Steve & Dawn » Sun May 28, 2006 11:59 am

It might well of been done a million times before but how much money do you really need to live in Cyprus. Talking about costs for Rates, Water, Electricity, Gas, Telephone, House Insurarnce, Life Insurance, Food, Drink, Petrol, Road Tax, Car Insurance & Health Care. If you have recently moved to Cyprus from the UK how do you rate the cost of living compared to here.

It has been done before…

Why not read through some of the other excellent threads on the cost of living to save us all wasting our time looking it up again for you? ;-)

It is cheaper if you live in Cyprus for long time or permanently. But salaries are also lower. So in the end it comes about the same unless you receive your income from abroad.

Ok lets take a look at it, electric is around 75, 2 monthly, and adsl and phoneline cost 40 pounds, water is metered, but i get by on paying around 10 to 11 pound two monthly, around 100 a year for municipality charges. petrol is a lot cheaper than england and i am sure someone will tell me what it is a litre as i dont even bother to check the prices. Meat is cheaper, pork is ridiculously cheap 2.30 ish a kilo. lamb is similar to england, vegies are cheaper and a good variety. car insurance depends obviously on size etc. And sure someone can give me examples. Booze is cheaper, i pay 3.50 for a litre of vodka as thats my tipple, beer have no idea. My only gripe is you cant get fresh runner beans here, but mostly everything else is available. And wages are around 500 a month. Hope that helps.
