Job hunting in and around Paphos

Postby Yorkshirefolk » Fri Jun 02, 2006 9:07 pm

we're cyprus devotees and we're determined to jack in our old life in rain soaked anti-social Britain and move and contribute to Cyprus society. We've done loads of research on property and legal issues, we're storming along with our Greek O level but we'd like any guidance about employment agencies or employment adverts that might help direct us towards contributing to the local economy (and our entertainment budget!) If anyone has got any pointers for us in this direction we'd be very grateful.

by the way, this site has been invaluable to us since we first started looking at cyprus as our new home so thanks to all the contributers and moderators.

In the UK I am a police officer with a background in Intelligence. My partner is a Social Worker, so we've been trying to look for employment that matches our skills. We've been looking on the net for recruitment agencies but haven't found any really for Cyprus (except catering jobs). We've looked on the net at Cypriot newspapers and havent had any success.

Any advice you could give would be appreciated.

If we have to take a new career direction that would also be rather nice!!

One thing I can say for sure is that you will fit in right away in Paphos as there is a large Brit ex police officer community...

For job hunting, you may find you have to take something lessor for a while until you find your feet, but for people willing to work, there seems to be many opportunities...

Is a good place to start

Good Luck

Nice one, thanks for the pointer... I'll happily turn my hand to anything and as long as we've enough money to survive that'll do nicely!

The British bases also have police officers in their staff and I suppose they have good employment conditions if you are interested to work there but I dont know what are the procedures that they follow and whether they have vacancies at this point of time !

Since you have experience in this field then it is wise to consider this option since everywhere you can go to ask for a job they will see your experience as an advantage.

Thanks, I'm making enquiries at the airbase for both of us and it's probably the most obvious way of getting settled into Cyprus but we're also up for a fresh challenge in life and different directions!

You could try opening a P.I office. Is it not needed as a service in Cyprus?

That's an intersting idea, though i think i'll need to be properly fluent in Greek before i take on that sort of commitment, but very intersting idea, thank you :D

I lived in Cyprus for 3 years and I'm dying to go back. I'm only 16 though but I really want to get a job over there.
