We are moving to Cyprus...

Postby Supertrotter » Fri Jun 09, 2006 10:50 am

...late summer this year and cannot wait.

Unlike most, we have not been to Cyprus year after year. In fact, we visited last summer for the first time and fell in love with the island. Having been all over the world this is the place we both felt happiest to settle into our semi-retirement.

I am 32 and my wife is 30

We have bought a 3 bed house in Trimithusa with pool.

We will be bringing our new car with us (Will be 6months+ old when we get to CY!)

Planning to take 3 weeks to get to Limassol port, seeing Europe on our way!

Do you have a job in cyprus ?

In cyprus its a bit different than europe, you have to prouve you was living in uk last 12 month and own the car more than 6 month. Whats the cc of the car ? over 2200cc the registration and road tax are very expensive !

you send the car in a container ? from southampton ? dover ? you already have a quotation ?

Hi Blondophile!

We have lived in UK all our lives, continuously (32 years!)

We will have owned the car for over 6 months when it enters Cyprus.

The car is a Range Rover Sport TDV6 (2700cc). I'm aware of cost of registering (I think it was approx. CY£1,600) and road tax (I think CY £350 p.a)

I just want to avoid the CY£21,600 duty

I am moving to cyprus in september, I am looking for a container and its not so easy, for some company its 500€ or 2500€ :? I m a bit confuse.

First I would go to ancona (italia) take a ferry to greece, after going to pireas (250km) take a another ferry to cyprus, but this ferry is ok to take my car, but without me so i must left the car and go by plane...

I found someone who went by car

But i am not motivate to do this ...

Very nice car the range rover :D my car is more simple ( I am just 24 ) is a bmw coupe 320ci M pack 2002, its a 2200cc (perfect for the tax) its a left hand drive ( i cannot go to mcdonald drive thru if i am alone  )
But the car is paid, and if a sell it to buy a anotherone in cyprus, for the same price i will have a old ....

I would buy a Z4 3.0, but, after how I will do in 1 or 2 years with the 2 seats...

We also have a BMW, but a 320Cd Sport Auto which I will be selling.

We are looking forward to driving there and will go from Bari - Greece, then Pitreaus - Limassol but there only seems to be one ferry company in operation dur to Isreal/Palestine conflict.

I have had all sorts of problems trying to find a route with car from Greece - CY without having to drive through Turkey, sail to N. CY and ferry from N to S CY.

I think it is now sorted.

My best friend uncle work in limassol port, he told me they re actually no ferry who can take you and the car from greece to cy.

You can go directly from turkey to limassol with a ferry.

Of course you can ! just the insurance they ask 25% more.

But the only thing, is on the mountain road if you are alone you cannot play very well, you cannot go to mcdonalds drive thru, and to bank drive thru in nicosia :( and to go out of the airport car park is a bit annoying, but when i go there i am never alone :D
