Yes i know that the subject of car imports has been discussed many times but my situation is different than the rest.

In Dec 2004 i bought a rav 4 2 litre duty free from a dealer in larnaca as i was stationed at the army base and was entitled to duty free goods. In dec 2005 after being posted to germany i completed all customs documents and drove the car to germany. Although not oficially posted back to Cyprus i am returning with my family and have rented a private house until a posting can be found. With 2 weeks to go i thought that i could automatically bring the car back to cyprus as i am a still a serving soldier and i have the original car registration plates. It now appears that because i am not posted back to cyprus i may have to pay all duties? Any help would be much appreciated because time is of the essence. I was wondering if i could sell the car to a friend who is serving out in Cyprus and is entitled to a duty free car?
