PAPHOS - car rental help please

Postby Randy » Mon Jun 12, 2006 12:39 pm

Hi, everyone. Coming out the end of the month to stay for two weeks in the family home. Loved being there last year too.

We hired a suzuki jeep from Chris and Miranda on the tombs of the kings road for a fairly good price but can't get in touch with them again at the moment. Am i likely to get a better deal booking one on line to pick up from the airport or get a taxi to the house and then go out once there and get a deal.

Any recomendations at all.

Thanks

Andy

The best deal I could find in June/July last year was booked online with www.easycar.com - I can't remember the exact price but it was the best by far for a Suzuki Vitara. No pick up at the airport, though - it had to be collected from the EasyCar.com office on Tombs Of The Kings Road.

Hope this helps

£25CYP seems expensive compared to last year. I'm sure the Vitara was around £15CYP per day from Easycar... Mind you, it was a bit tatty. And when I started to point out the dings and scratches that were on it when I picked it up they said "Don't worry! We class this as a 'fun' car and we know you're going to go up dirt roads in the mountains. It's bound to get the odd knock and scrape..."
The car was perfectly roadworthy with good tyres and everything working correctly, it was just a bit tatty - as you might expect for an open top car left out in the elements for months (years?) on end.
Please let us know how you get on.

Just tried easycar, the first 4x4 they list is a Rav 4 which is £32 per day.... nothing said about vitara's. I'd be happy with a suzuki sj, i think they are made by someone else out there, 1300cc engine, the early ones used to roll over, can't think of the name of them..... well the fight goes on

I just looked at Easycar.com. They are quoting £20.36 GBPounds per day in July for a compact SUV convertible. The example they give is a Suzuki Jimny, the model that replaced the SJ413 Samurai. Not sure if the link will work but I did a quote for the first 2 weeks in July here: https://www.easycar.com/ssl/PriceCompar ... x?lang=ENG

EDIT: looks like the link takes you to their home page :(

Hope this helps

thanks Simon, i was trying it from the airport at first but strangly, it comes out at £22.38 per day from Paphos downtown.... seems about as good as it gets... £290 for 2 weeks hire.... i had a brand new Chevy Blazer in Colorado this year for less than that..

Yes, it does seem a bit steep. I'm off to Lanzarote on 26th June for 3 weeks. 21 days rental of a Fiat Punto class of car is costing £220 GBP. A shade over £10 a day... And that's pick up and drop off at the airport, saving £25ish on a return taxi fare :)
