Computer Network Engineer Jobs (Cisco)

Postby mr_n1 » Mon Jul 24, 2006 1:41 am

Hello,

I was wondering about moving to Cyprus to live. And was wondering about the following....

1. Does anyone know if there is a demand for Cisco Network Engineers (CCNA), in the area of Internet Network Hosting?

or does anyone know of any job websites for Computer networking that i could find out?

2. Whats does an average Cisco Network engineer earn in Cyprus?

3. Since im a British Born Cypriot (BBC) i was also wondering if other BBCs have had any problems fitting or any other general problems with getting a job and integrating??

Thanks

Hello souroul,

Thanks for your reply,
What exactly do u mean?
Who are the local ISPs (appart from Cyta)?
Any advice on how to get started?

It sounds like you are already in the industry? any ideas on how to get started?

Cheers

mr_n1, in Cyprus there are not many ISPs or other companies that would require the kind of skills that you have. Finding a job to exactly meet your skills will not be easy. :( Even if you do the salaries will be lower than those of the UK.

My son has a CISCO qualification and is a first-year computer studies student and he got a job recently with OTENET Cyprus, which is similar to CyTA. As far as i know they need quite a few people for their customer services centre, which is just being set up. The pay is CY3 per hour and double if you work weekends and holidays. I'ts not great but perhaps they might have other vacancies. I will get him to ask if you want.

i was wondering if they have any position for Cisco CCNA engineers, field based or otherwise, and more importantly - whats the pay?

Damsi thank you very much.

yeah £3 per hour. Just about the minimum wage...sucks really :) I think they try to keep people on a part-time basis...seven-hour shifts four days a week...saves on paying social insurance i guess :-P But it's ok for a student living at home. Anyway they might have some full-time salaried positions in other areas so I'll check it out.
