POOR QUALITY CARS FOR HIRE IN PATHOS

Postby murphyjl » Fri Aug 04, 2006 11:07 pm

I hired a car from europcar at christmas time. I was surprised by the quality of the car. Basically the price I paid to hire the car was 50% of the price I know I would pay to buy the car in Glasgow. It was about eight years old had 50k miles on the clock, and in pretty poor condition. I also hired a child car seat. I have never seen such a poor seat in all my life. It was in a terrible state of repair. The polystyrene underneath the cover was in pieces, basically I felt very guilty that I had my son sitting in that seat for two weeks. Now I paid around 55 British pounds to hire the car seat and a good bit for the car. How do they get away with this? I always complain about poor services etc when at home however having looked at the rest of the cars that europcar had I knew there was not going to be a better car on offer. Europcar in the uk is a top quality outfit and would never dream of providing such a service. Why the different standard ? 8) 8)

Any views on this matter

No, but thanks for letting me know. I have been recommended (via forum) to use Elephantcar. This is dreadul from a company as big as Europcar.

Its Paphos, not Pathos :D

Anyhow, are Europecar in Cyprus owned by Europecar UK? Is it a franchise of Europecar UK? It might be worth while making a formal complaint to Europecar in the UK as its very likely they will not know about this and will form an investigation as it will leave their global reputation in tatters.

Sorry Hazza couldn't resist it

Mind I wish I'd got a pint for each time i've had to correct Pathos to Paphos or Pafos as seems to be the trend nowadays I'd be a very drunk chap :D

Its a franchise of europcar. I thought franchise is supposed to be the same standard as the parent. Not in this case.
