UK estate agents based in Cyprus???

Postby BerkshireScouse » Sun Aug 06, 2006 5:35 pm

Hello

I am seriously considering investing in a property in an area where there is scope for considerable capital appreciation (possibly Eastern Europe). My intention would be to let the property out (rather than using it as a holiday home myself), then sell it when I believe scope for further capital appreciation is limited. Ideally, I would prefer to leave the management of the property in the hands of a reputable agent with appropriate local expertise, rather than take a ‘hands-on’ approach.

I would prefer to have the benefit of a face-to-face meeting with a reputable UK agent with the relevant expertise in the Eastern European market (e.g. Savills, Letterstone, Knight Frank). Unfortunately I have a problem regarding the practicalities of arranging such a meeting, as I currently reside in Cyprus and only return to the UK at certain times of the year. Despite having carried out an extensive trawl of the Cyprus Yellow Pages, I have been unable to trace any UK estate agents who fulfil my requirements.

Is anyone aware of any such UK agents with offices in Cyprus, or of any professional bodies which may be able to assist me in this respect? (I am in the course of contacting NAEA).

Thank you very much in anticipation.

Townends has opened up an office in Larnaca, perhaps they may be able to assist you. They have a website here....

www.townendscyprus.com
Tel: 24 818652

I have their card in my wallet so it was easy to get the info for you :)

Are you a yuppy?? Or perhaps a snob??

Why on earth would you want a UK agent? They are thieves and robbers and have nothing to recommend them

Estate Agents are illegal in Cyprus, they call themselves property agents! Most of these so called agents charged between 5-10% of the cost of any property they supposedly sell. I am a Brit and would suggest you make contact with one of the well established and larger agency on-island.
Good luck.

<Why on earth would you want a UK agent? They are thieves and robbers and have nothing to recommend them>

How do you justify such a sweeping statement? How many have you dealt with? One, ten, twenty?

<Estate Agents are illegal in Cyprus>

I think you mean that those companies which are not members of the Cyprus Real Estate Agents' Association are operating illegaly.
