Hi Gorillagirl

You can drive from one end of Cyprus to the other quicker than you can cross NY. The population of NY is around 15 times that of Cyprus.

It is never as cold as NY; I spent January last year in NY and gazed in wonder at the snow in Central Park - and froze on the ferries!

Size does matter, especially when it comes to the size of someone's heart.

If the guy doesn't love you or want you around, move on and find someone who does. No matter what the reason you broke up, what are you going to do, force him to love you?

That won't work, but look at it this way, by moving on, you're one step closer to finding the guy for you.

But do visit Cyprus sometime, it's so pretty here :)

i guess we just spoil them here in the states, and rightly so! it would just kill me to see any animal mistreated.... so i AM better off here....

It must be the ideal world there since you are all vegetarians, there is no crime, nobody is mistreated... better stay in your paradise ;)

sarcastic, aren't you? i hope you are not an indication as to how closed the cypriot people are to outsiders.
then i really had it lucky with my guy...

GorillaGal, I will applaud if it works out for you but it sounds as if this man is set in his ways and in his mind and if he is a stubborn Cypriot then nothing will change him.

Do not take Sotos seriously. He/She was just ribbing you a little.

pets and animals in general

Postby GorillaGal » Wed Aug 09, 2006 7:48 pm

Sotos doesn't know me enough to rib me yet.... yes, i wear leather, and eat cows, but i also buy range free chicken eggs, and try to buy products that are better for the environment and not animal tested. i am not saying there is no animal cruelty in the USA, but when it is discovered, the offenders are prosecuted. the pet industry here is huge, and there is alot of money to be made in it. (i make more money than i ever did, twice as much as i did working in an office for 20 years as an office manager or a dental assistant.)

i do not understand how a county that is not third world, that is highly educated, does not love and respect thier pets? can someone explain this to me? aren't there any laws that get enforced regarding pets? here they are part of the family, sometimes treated as humans. they play an important role in our society, and i am glad to be a pet owner myself, and it be working in the pet industy.

are there any zoos in cyprus? where? are those animals treated humanely?

thanks for the input!

Hi GorillaGal.

If your boyfriend, doesn't respond to you, then in the long run you are better off without that guy. Short term, yes it does hurt and yes you will feel miserable, upset, wondering what you have done wrong, but you WILL get over it. You have to look at the big picture, look to the future and most of all, look to what will make you happy in the long run.

In the mean time, come to Cyprus, have a holiday here and have fun, be it with your boyfriend or on your own. At least whilst here, you can explore the Island, you can see a totally new culture.

There is a Zoo in Limassol though I have never been to it. Unable to tell you what the conditions are like for the animals there.

thanks for the info on the zoo, or lack of info on the zoo....at least i know they HAVE a zoo!

and yes, i miss my boyfriend, but i will live, with or without him. i had my 2nd date last night with a new greek, it was fun...he is a nice guy...and he brought me flowers.
i will keep in touch with the cypriot, but i won't go there unless he wants me to visit. i have been to foreign countries and it is a little scarey to go alone, especially since everyone seems to hate americans.
it's not the first time my heart has been broken, and i am sure it won't be the last. such is life.

but a girl still hopes.

at least i have a better idea that i would not like to LIVE on cyprus.... but i definately want to visit....someday....

Ella GorillaGal, you'll love it here.

For 6 year I used to come on holiday on my own and stay at the Princess Hotel in Larnaca. I can honestly say, hand on heart that I was never bored or lonely. I got to meet people, and ended up seeing the same faces every year. Last year, about the time I used to go on holiday, I went to the same hotel to see some of these people will be going to the hotel again in 4 weeks when they come for their annual holiday.

Arrange to meet people from here for a drink and a night out.

Hazza,
that would be nice! i might just do that. but if i go half way across the world, i would hope my (former) boyfriend would spend at least some time with me. i would not expect him to be with me all the time. i will not come unless he agrees to that. otherwise, the whole time i would be there, i would just be wondering about him.
i did hit him up with the idea and waiting to hear from him.
there are so many places in this world to visit, and i would like to see them all. however, i am not fond of traveling alone outside of the USA, especially these days. too many people hate us. (and rightly so... with that clown of a president we have!)
