We will be coming over to have a good look for ourselves, but it's always useful to hear others' stories. Would you recommend the developer you bought from?

Mavros has a good reputation in Larnaca and Nicosia.

I'm very impressed with Patsalos' work in the Larnaka area on his appartments. He's a new developer having built 3 blocks so far (That I know of). Have found his work to be excellent.

Livadiotis is one to AVOID. Have seen alot of reports about people not getting title deeds, he builds in quatity and not quality.

Miliotis developer was the one I bought my flat 5 years ago and I can recommend it. It is a small company based in Nicosia but the quality of construction is good.I dont know If his operations cover other areas like Paphos , Limassol etc.

I work closely with Zavos and Froiber and never had any problems.

Hi GG
Are there not two Zavos-es? With different reputations?

The one I know is Michael Zavos, probably one of the largest if not the largest developer in Cyprus. In in industry that relies on recomendations you don't get that big by conning people.

Forgive me GG, but conning people is rife in the property development industry here. Potential buyers are constantly misled. But it does not stop there.

Corruption is rife in the Planning Departments and Municipalities. A number of officers who grant planning permission in Paphos are currently suspended. To get Building Permits/Planning Permissions granted here requires a bribe; complain and your application gets put to the bottom of the pile.

The law requires application for Building Permits are to be dealt with in 3 months or less; without a brown envelope it does not happen in less than a year - so everyone pays up; complain to the official at your peril.

One of the laocal Mukhtars is a big football fan; each year he gathers together all the developers and asks if they would like to make a 'donation' to the local football team, before, of course, he goes on to consider the Planning Applications!

I could go on....

Thanks for the replies. I thought I'd done a decent bit of research already but never heard of most of these! Keep them coming, more to add to my list to look at. Probably interested in the Paphos/Peyia area mostly. Thanks again.
