Limassol: Violence and threaths : Mitsingas Shoes

Postby Frank B » Tue Aug 15, 2006 3:14 pm

Dear Forum
Having used this before our departure we feel we want to warn future tourists to the lovely Island and beautiful town of Limassol against this shop:
[/i]

A severe warning against shopping in this MITSINGAS SHOES 4 “shoes and bags” shop in Limassol , situated at the address :Anexartisias 43 B !

Having bought a pair of shoes and a bag (€ 140) in this shop – I had doubt of the bag and wanted to return it 4 days later still in original packaging and bringing the receipt of course

Coming in to the shop with my husband we were told : "NO WAY – despite we had been informed of 7 days right of return as standard."
The Lady in the shop refused to take back the bag.
We offered to find something else for the same price – so it was not a question of giving money back. Again she now angrily said: "NO WAY ! which surprised us a bit."

We insisted – as we had not been told or seen anything in writing of -no returning of bags – and asked politely to see where this was informed ……this infuriated the lady and we asked to talk to the manager as this would bring us nowhere.

We then took place on a sofa and waited for about 5 minutes – when the manager – came running – screaming into the shop : “ I KILL YOU – GET OUT OF MY SHOP “, he tried to head bang my husband who was sitting in the couch , and kept on hitting - pushing and screaming like a true maniac.

We got up and with this maniac and woman screaming and shouting words which shall not be repeated here we left the shop, very upset and disappointed.

The police could not interfere in the question of the purchase but took the case up – as this was not the first time tourists had been harassed in this shop.

So please take a most serious warning – unless of course you are sure you do not want to return anything – I can point out that my fear of the quality of the leather was true – we have now been told it is fake……!
Beside this there are many other nice shops in Limassol so – do yourself a favour avoid the Mitsingas Shops all together –

Perfect example, that would never happen in Larnaca.

Well I bought a few pairs of shoes from Mitsingas , a long established business , but reading how horrid they were to you they have just lost another customer . I beleive the manager / owner is a Cypriot Brit ??

In a way that attitude is prevalent in many walks of life in Cyprus and it should be frowned upon upon and hopefully it might disappear.

Thank you for your advice - we will probably do this now , as well as we have after your mail seen there is a EU wide - complain office to which " crooks" of this kind can be reported.

Thank you for the inspiration !

This idiot manager will beg for customers to come in his shop in the future! This is exactly how shops go bankrupt!

Thank you for the information!
