the weather

Postby GorillaGal » Mon Aug 28, 2006 7:39 pm

i have to ask you wonderful Cypriots a question. i have been watching the weather in Larnarca, and it is always the same. sunny, high is 90, low around 72 degrees. don't you ever get sick and tired of that?
is there any visable change of seasons for you?
i would have a hard time with that kind of weather day after day. i love the change of seasons. i am not too fond of the heat and humidity we get in the New York summers, but an occasional thunder storm is a great break and very romantic. Fall is my favorite season, when the leaves on the trees turn every shade of yellow, orange, red and brown. i enjoy walking in the fallen leaves and hear them rustle and crackle under my feet. winter brings snow, and there is nothing prettier than a blanket of clean white snow covering everything. spring is a refreshing change, when the trees start to bud and life emerges from the earth, bringing color back after a dreary winter.
don't you ever get bored with all that sunshine?

Hi GorillaGirl, we get lovely thunderstorms in the winter. We also get snow up in the mountains making a lively skiing destination. Its surreal when you can go up and play in the snow then be on the beach just an hour later having a swim!

Cyprus is small but we have variety. Skiing in the sea is just 45 minutes from ice-skiing on the mountain. :P

It is not the same thing. We have all 4 seasons. But our summer is true summer. It is always hot and almost never rains. I would be very mad if bad weather was ruining my plans during summer! In winter some days are cloudy, some sunny and some time it rains even with thunderstorms.

Are you mad ??? How can you ask such a question. I would envy anyone who lived in such a climate. Coming to Cyprus in 2 weeks. :P

I was in Dubai last week and it reached 45C (114F); Cyprus seems refreshingly cool after that, but YES, the summer weather can be boring.
