Travel to Donkey Sanctuary

Postby Ork1927 » Tue Sep 12, 2006 9:13 am

Hi

We are flying into Larnaca next Monday and travelling to the Donkey Sanctuary for a couple of days before heading over to Protaras. We haven't got a car so the plan is to get a bus from Larnaca to Limassol and then onto the sanctuary either by bus or taxi.

Has anyone got any advice on buses we can get in order to do this or how much a taxi from Limassol to the sanctuary is likely to be? We get in quite early on the Monday morning.

Thanks

travel to donkey sanctuary

Hi,
I don't think there are buses running to Limassol, only Nicosia. The sanctuary is at a village called Vouni, i would say this is at least another 35-40 mins after Limassol, when i went a friend drove there so you don't seem to take as much notice. They have a web site, not sure what it is though. There used to be some sort of santuary type at Oroklini, not sure if you could find out if still going, would certainly be easier to get to from Larnaca. Hope this helps.

There is a bus from Larnaca to Limassol but Travel Express service taxi is probably best if you are wanting to get there quickly. The earliest taxi is 6.0a.m. and I was told they now pick up from Larnaca Airport. There is a bus from Limassol to Platres which does not go into Vouni Village. A taxi from Limassol to the Sanctuary would be about £20, but if you are staying there telephone beforehand and I believe it is possible one of the volunteers could arrange to meet you in Limassol. They would also be able to tell you about any village buses. These usually leave the village early morning down to Limassol and then return in the afternoon being used to get people to work or down to shop rather than people up to the
village.

Enjoy your stay there. I have the Donkey Sanctuary Calendar beside my computer - the sanctuary does such good work in a lovely setting.
