You will see a tree with many hundreds of rags (wishes) hanging from it. Go down the steps and there are two shrines with dozens of icons and light candles.

On Sundays there are many Sri Lancans there; Bhuddists and Christians mixing together. I was there yesterday lighting a candle; it has a very special feeling - more than any church or temple I have been in.

I took some pics there - It looks weird just off the road there in such a busy section
i can just imagine Paphos thousands of years ago...
my dad is a Paphiti from Termithoussa village - he cant believe the changes....his family home is still standing which is nice - an English couple bought it and kept it as a village home - its lovely and the let us in to visit....if it was left in the family Im sure they would have bulldozed it down....

The catacombs are used for healing- the rags are supposed to be rubbed on the affected part of the body then those rags tied to the tree with prayers for healing. It's actually a Pagan (pre-Christian) tradition.

There are also rock-cut tombs in the gardens of the Alexander the Great Hotel, and in the car park at the front of the Annabelle Hotel- also underneath that hotel! You can ask at reception to see them.
